CEED ICHRA Sikh AID

Can we Count on You? #WorldHumanitarianDay

This is Your Chance to Be a Part of Something BIG

Worldwide, August 19, 2017 – On one day each year the world comes together to celebrate the spirit of humanity around the world. On Saturday, August 19, 2017 UNITED SIKHS will join the UN and other organizations to raise public awareness of humanitarian aid and those who risk their lives to provide it.
This World Humanitarian Day UNITED SIKHS is asking supporters and other community members to be of service to someone in need. We ask that you join our global campaign to spread goodwill in one of the four ways listed below. Also, be sure to let us (and the world) know how you’re serving those in need. Share your photos and videos on social media and use the hashtags #IamAHumanitarian and #UNITEDSIKHS to be featured. You can also share this poster with your friends and followers.
How YOU can spread goodwill on August 19th:Rescue a Family UNITED SIKHS provides monthly pensions to widows of farmers who have committed suicide. We aim to support 1,000 families by 2019. Your monthly donation of $16 (USD) (or Rs1,000 or £12) will help keep more children of farmer widows in school and out of forced labor. Begin a monthly or one-time donation here. Or visit our Rescue a Family project page to learn more about farmer suicides.Support the International Civil & Human Rights Advocacy (ICHRA) project. ICHRA advances the economic, social and spiritual empowerment of groups in need. We achieve this by protecting and enforcing the civil and human rights of minorities and marginalized groups in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Our ICHRA projects include the Anti Bullying Initiative and the Right to Turban. For a full list of ICHRA projects visit, https://www.unitedsikhs.org/civil-rights. Visit here to support these projects.Organize a FEED THE HUNGRY event in your city Since 2009 UNITED SIKHS volunteers have fed thousands of impoverished people across the world through its FEED THE HUNGRY (FTH) campaign. Under the campaign, UNITED SIKHS works with Gurdwaras (Sikh places of worship) to feed and clothe the needy from all communities around the world. Please donate today towards our nation wide campaign or write to us at sikhaid@unitedsikhs.org to assist you in initiating your FTH program and become a part of history.Your own act of selflessness No act is too big or small. The most important thing is that you give what you can, to those who are in need of your help. Help someone in need & encourage others to do the same on social media! Write to sikhaid@unitedsikhs.org to be part of the big social media campaign to spread awareness.
UNITED SIKHS Medical Camp
To mark World Humanitarian Day, UNITED SIKHS volunteers in Gurdaspur, Panjab, will launch a health and medical Camp on Aug 27th at the historical Gurdwara Tahli Sahib, in the border area of Gurdaspur (Panjab). Thereafter, they will conduct a monthly camp on the last Sunday of every month.
To date, UNITED SIKHS volunteers have served through 26 humanitarian relief projects in war zones, after earthquakes, floods or cyclones, around the world. The latest project was in Bangladesh for the Mora cyclone victims. We want everyone to be a humanitarian on Aug 19th to make it our 27th humanitarian project.
