With English fast establishing its place in the world as the global language, it is becoming increasingly important to be anglophone.

Tertiary level students as well as school going children are given English classes by the UNITED SIKHS volunteers who pair up with Oxford university students, with the aim of enhancing the students’ language skills and giving the students the opportunity to learn English from native speakers.

It is hoped that the advantage of being conversant in English will create opportunity for the college students, be it in education, employment or for immigration. The project also sows the seeds of the importance of knowing English in the school children.

If you are interested in volunteering for the UNITED SIKHS – Oxford University TravelAid project in the final week of July and for the month of August this year, please read about the project ensuring that you read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) at www.unitedsikhs.org/usouta.
